Bill Hunt has lived in Laguna Hills since 1994. Born and raised in Massachusetts, he served in the United States Army as a Military Police Officer in Augsburg, Germany and Redstone Arsenal, Alabama from 1980 - 1983. In 1983-1984, Bill served as an Auxiliary Police Officer in New Braintree, Massachusetts, while also attending Worcester State College.
Bill moved to California in the summer of 1984 and was hired by the Orange County Sheriff’s Department in July 1985. He served for 22 years, retiring at the rank of Lieutenant. Bill was San Clemente’s Chief of Police Services from 2003-2006.
Bill has an Associate of Arts degree in Criminal Justice and an Associate of Arts degree in Spanish from Saddleback College, a Bachelor of Science in Business and Management from the University of Redlands and a Master of Arts in Negotiations-Conflict Management from California State University, Domingues Hills.
Bill served as a Laguna Hills Parks and Recreations Commissioner, on the Pastoral Council of Saint Kilian Catholic Church and is a current member of the Knights of Columbus, Council 6332. Additionally, Bill has served on the Board of Directors of the California Association of Licensed Investigators (CALI) and for several several years as both the Director and Governor of the Orange District. He also served on the Board of Directors of the California Association of Licensed Security Agencies (CALSAGA).
Bill has been married to his wife Debra for 32 years and they have lived and raised their family in the City of Laguna Hills. All four of their children graduated from Laguna Hills High School, three have served, or are currently serving, in the United States Military, and one graduated from Saddleback Community College’s Nursing program in 2020.
